Born on December 4, 1943 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky Sandy was the daughter of Oliver Scofield White and Ruby Nell Hudson, her birth wasn’t recorded until December 12, 1943. The discrepancy most likely fell to the weather and arranging for someone to travel to the Ohio County Court House. It was often joked that she got to celebrate her birthday twice. She was a woman full of life, love and compassion. Sandy was previously a member of the Community of Christ and currently a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She held two Masters Degrees and was a former Librarian in the Jefferson County Public Schools, spending most of her tenure at Watson Lane Elementary School. Not only did she serve in her church community but she also served the community at large. She was active in Camp Quality of Kentuckiana, Hospitality House, Outreach International and Lasagna Love, as well as many other ministries of her church homes. She could often be found reading a good book, swimming, playing cards and Bunco with friends. Sandy also loved to travel. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye, she cherished them. Sandy shared her love for others through cooking, serving others her food and spending time with her dear friends. Sandy lived a full life – a life well lived!
Besides her parents, Oliver Scofield and Ruby Nell White; her granddaughter, Sydney Elaina Horsley precedes Sandy in her passing.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Floyd (Stephanie) Horsley, III, Suzanne (Scott) Ponder and Jonathan Horsley; grandchildren, Madison Sebastian, Owen Horsley, Annabelle Horsley and Scarlett Horsley; siblings, Bruce White, Sheila (Donald) Storck and John White; extended family, Don Hileman, Cecelia Beeler and Kevin Taylor; many cousins, nieces and nephews; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
In lieu of flowers and customary expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made in honor of Sandy to the Epworth United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Hour of 1:00 p.m. also at the Evergreen Funeral Home. Sandy will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery and Garden Mausoleums.
