

Wilson, Sarah Juanema (Skeans), 91, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 6, 2017. Juanema was born to Ethel M. Skeans Roney and John C. Skeans in Washington County. She grew up in the Mackville, KY area.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Polly Reynolds and Loren Skeans; husband, James H. Wilson; and daughter, Twana Gayle Deweese.
Juanema attended Mackville High School and 3 months into her senior year had to quit. She moved to Louisville for work to help support her family. She met her husband, James H. Wilson, while riding a streetcar.
Juanema was the spelling champion of Washington County and loved school. Her goal was that her children would all graduate from high school. She was a member of the Communication Workers of America Local 3011 where she worked over 20 years as a long distance operator at A.T.&T. Belonged to Hikes Point Christian Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #154, Southern Star.
Juanema is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Y. Wix (David) and step-son, William Wilson; son-in-law, Steve DeWeese; grandchildren, Autumn Chapman (Robby), David Wix, Jr. (Angelia), James DeWeese (Christy) and Jason DeWeese (Ryann); 8 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A Funeral Service will be Monday at 12:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home with Visitation Sunday from 2-8 pm at the Funeral Home.
She will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hikes Point Christian Church, Gideon’s International, or Samaritan’s Purse.
