He retired from the produce department at Kroger, member of Victory Memorial Baptist Church & Suburban Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, parents, one brother & 3 sisters.
He is survived by his son, David Downey (Sandy); granddaughter, Crystal; and great grandson, Braeden.
A celebration of Shelby's life will be held Tuesday at 10AM at O.D. White & Sons Funeral Home with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 3-8 PM at the funeral home.
