Shirley Ann Barnes, 89, of Louisville passed from this life on Tuesday January 16, 2018. Shirley was born on July 17, 1928 to the late John and Iva (Best) Ward. She was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, (St. Helen’s) and a retired tutor for the JCPS. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Barnes, Sr.; a sister, Marilyn Straub; a brother, Jack Ward; and a grandson, Zachary Barnes. Left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Susan Hinds (Larry), Cathy Bray (Randy), Pattie Kays (Chris), and Linda Lind (Eddie); sons, Robert L. Barnes, Jr., (Gale), Steven Barnes (Candy), John Barnes, Thomas Barnes (Kita), and David Barnes; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral service for Mrs. Barnes will be held at 11 am Friday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington.
