Shirley Ann Perkins

Shirley graduated from Louisville Male High School in 1962 and later that year married her husband who she called Jim. She was a homemaker and raised her two girls Jeanette Leigh and Marla Jean. Shirley spent her adult years in customer service working for H.J. Scheirich CO., and Humana. She lost her beloved Jim in 1997 but gained her “babies”, the grandchildren Marisa Leigh and Marcus Jr. (Lil Marcus) a few years later. Shirley had a love for the UK Wildcats, Elvis, Sunflowers, and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James “Steele” (Jim) Perkins; and her siblings Vesta “Gearlene” Stoner, James Montgomery, and Glen Montgomery. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Jeanette Perkins and Marla Blakey (Marcus Sr.); brothers Cleve Montgomery and Kenny Montgomery; grandchildren Marisa Blakey and Marcus Blakey Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Perkins will be held at 11 am on Monday October 9, 2023, at the Arch L. Heady Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be on Sunday October 8th from 4-8 pm.
