Shirley J Sinclair

Shirley Jane Sinclair, age 88, of Louisville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 15, 2023. She was the former Shirley Jane Meyer born August 2, 1935 in Mt Olive, IL to the late Ervin (Nip) and Hannah Lawson Meyer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Sinclair; they were devoted to each other in marriage for 55 years.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and teacher. Shirley received her high school degree from Mt Olive, IL in 1953, degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University and Masters degree in Education from University of Louisville. She taught school in Louisville for 24 years, was a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church and Delta Zeta Sorority. Shirley was an avid bridge player in several groups and enjoyed bunco, traveling and reading.

Shirley dearly loved her family and was a great supporter of their activities and interests. Her children will cherish her memory, daughters Linda Smith (Myron), Marilyn Blickle (Bill Stout), and son Robert Sinclair (Holly). Grandchildren include, Christina Givan (David), Tiffany Hall (Russell), Matthew Broaddus (Alexis), Holly Smith, Marshall Smith and Brock Sinclair. There are 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral visitation will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10 am – 12 pm with a service following at 12:00 pm at Arch L Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road, Louisville KY 40222. Burial will be the following day at 1:00 pm in Litchfield, IL at the Elmwood Cemetery.
