Shirley Vancampen

Shirley married George W. Vancampen on August 23, 1946, and was blessed with two children, George (Bud) and Carol Sue.

Family was always at the center of her life. She enjoyed many family outings at Rough River Reservoir, numerous vacations to Texas and hosting holiday celebrations at her home. Some of her travels included Florida, Washington D.C., Smoky Mountains, California, Colorado and Hawaii.

Nothing brought her more happiness than her five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. After retiring from Enro Shirt Company, she happily babysat five of her great grandchildren at her home in Okolona. They adore their MawMaw. Well into her 70’s, she would get on the floor and play, read stories, take them to lunch and go to the movies. As they grew older, she proudly attended school activities and sporting events. In her spare time she was cutting her grass and doing other yard work until 90 years old.

Shirley will be missed and her family will carry her in their hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her husband George, sister Barbara Ann Triplett and brother Leroy Derbacher.

She is survived by her son George Vancampen (Barbara), daughter Carol Vancampen Wittman (Jerry); grandchildren Bethany Vancampen Buckman (Don), Belinda Vancampen Johnson, Brian Vancampen (Kathy), Bret Wittman (Rachel), Brooke Wittman Patterson (Aaron); great grandchildren Brock Buckman, Bekah Buckman, Abby Vancampen Webb (Hunter), Abe Vancampen, Emily Johnson, Hayden Patterson, Clara Patterson, Wren Wittman, Rhea Wittman; great-great grandchild Michael Lee Webb.

Visitation will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY 40213, US, on April 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
