Sterling J. Jones

Jones, Sterling J., son of the late Lovelace and Brunetta Jones was born on April 24, 1932. He departed this life suddenly and unexpectedly on July 15, 2018. Sterling met Mary Alice Jackson and they were married March 10, 1951 and through this reunion, nine children were created.

Mary Jones preceded Mr. Jones in June 2005. Between the years of 1992-2008, Mr. Jones was preceded by his children, Percy, Wanda, Sterling Dwayne, David, Dale, and Darrow.

Mr. Jones was a military man, who served 20+ years in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing card games.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Phyllis, Daphane, Althea; son, Russell; daughter-in-law, Josephine; sisters, Marwena and Novenia; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 am-2 pm at the funeral home.
