Suzanne was born the third child of J.B. and Sally Stuart Hitt. Suzanne and her siblings lost their mother in 1955 and were raised by J.B., a railroad conductor, and their loving stepmother, “Aunt Cora”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Cora, her brother, John Baxter Hitt, II (Elaine), and her beloved husband, Jim Bolus, who she lost unexpectedly in 1997 after 33 years of marriage.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Hitt DeGeorge, son, James “Bo” Bolus, Jr. (Tana), daughter, Jennifer Bolus (Mickey), and 4 grandchildren, Eli Scott, James Michael, III, Matthew Lee, and Hayden Joseph Bolus.
Suzanne was a 1961 graduate of Atherton High School. She was a wonderful mother and lover of all animals, with a special affection for dogs. While her children were young, she managed to champion multiple West Highland White Terriers, most notably, Moose a/k/a “Jim O’ Jen’s Man Man.” After her children went to college, she began a second career as the office manager for a real estate developer where she worked for many years. Suzanne was a skilled knitter. Countless individuals are lucky enough to have a baby blanket, sweater for people or animals, shawl, scarf, mittens, hat, or vest made by her.
She was an accomplished cook having mastered her mother-in-law’s Lebanese recipes. Her baklawa was legendary. She continued knitting and cooking until her hands no longer allowed.
A special thank you to Antoinette and her other loving caregivers who so wonderfully cared for her during the last two years, where she faced every hurdle with dignity, resolve and grace. Antoinette, Nehemie, Fabienne, Fadeline, Marie-Josie, Marjorie, and Medjinah, thank you from your Queen who still loves us all, and is finally reunited with Jim, just as she always wanted.
