Sylvia Jean "Syl" Ray, 60, of Louisville, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010 at Norton Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Evansville, IN and the former Sylvia Rusche. Syl was a registered nurse and consultant for many local hospitals. She taught numerous nursing aids so that they could recieve their certification and she had worked for Beverly Enterprises where she ran their career centers. She loved to travel and go to the casino. She had a soft spot in her heart for pets, and especially her buddy "Jake".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Jane Rusche, and a uncle, Charles S. Rusche.
She will be cherished by her loving husband of 39 years, Lester M. Ray; her son, Brian M. Ray (Lisa); and her grandson, Charlie Ray.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
