Thomas F. Young, 75 of Louisville, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. He served his country as a member of the National Guard from 1958-1961. Tom was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church since 1971. He enjoyed being one of the ‘summer people’ at Lake Cumberland since 1972. He was a former employee of Burger Chef and retired from K-Mart as District Food Manager. Tom volunteered at The Sister Visitor Center for 15 years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Mary Jean Ostertag; children: Ben Stivers, Rick Stivers (of Texas), Sherilee Hopper, Kathleen Roell & Tammy Simon; siblings: Jerry Young, Paul Young, Billie Snawder, Mary Jo Tazwell, & Mike Young (deceased); 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 10am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation Monday, October 9th 2017, from 2-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 8519 Preston Hwy. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to WHAS Crusade for Children.
