Vicki Dianne Tichenor Valla
October 17, 1945 – November 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we honor the life of Vicki Dianne Tichenor Valla, who was born on October 17, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee, and passed away on November 3, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. After a long and courageous battle that included extended stays in the ICU and rehabilitation, Vicki left this world surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Vicki’s journey began under the loving guidance of her parents, who both preceded her in death—her mother when Vicki was just a year old, and her father when she was only nine. She was also preceded in passing by her beloved brothers, Ricky and Buddy
She is survived by her devoted sons, Richard and Gregory, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brittany, Justin, Alaina, Joseph, Christopher, and Nathan—Gregory’s children; as well as Chelsea and Shelby—Richard’s children. Vicki’s love reached another generation with the arrival of her great-grandson, Noah. She also leaves behind her sisters, Charlotte, Joy, and Jo, along with many treasured cousins and friends who will miss her deeply and remember her fondly.
Vicki was a graduate of the Southern High School Class of 1963 in Okolona. She studied accounting at Sullivan University, and she enjoyed a long and dedicated career, retiring from Recreonics, Inc. in 2014.
Her passions brought light to her days. Vicki was an enthusiastic football fan, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Cincinnati Bengals. She followed University of Kentucky college sports with loyalty, but she also shared many laughs and memories attending University of Louisville basketball games with her cousin Connie—never missing a game when tickets came her way.
A lifelong lover of books, Vicki especially enjoyed historical fiction and was a regular at her local library. Her kind heart extended to animals, especially dogs and cats, each of whom she treated as part of her family.
Her natural talents for organization and hospitality were felt by all who attended the monthly luncheons and reunions she coordinated for the Southern High School Class of 1963. Vicki was known for her generosity in offering help—and always bringing along her famous desserts to brighten any gathering.
Even as adults, Vicki and Connie never lost their sense of adventure. Visits to California and Florida were filled with joy, sunshine, and a bit of mischief—chasing rays on the beach, trying their hand at body surfing, and creating memories that will never fade.
Vicki’s love, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace, her memory a blessing forever in the hearts of those who love her.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park, located at 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218. The service is scheduled for November 11, 2025, starting at 3:00 pm.
