Viola Gladys Christian

Viola was a founding and active member of Calvary Apostolic Church for 60 years. She held several different positions at the church, including teaching Sunday school for 40 years. She was faithful up until the time of her illness. Viola was known for her seamstress abilities. She loved piecing quilts and made one for every member of the family and many special friends. Everyone who met Viola learned very quickly of her love of God and her church. She could be heard singing hymns up until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph Christian. She is survived by children Gail Whitman (Jerry), Steve Christian (Wanda), and Faith Oakes (Larry); 5 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many godchildren; and a host of friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday.
