She was born on Nov. 12, 1924, and was a long-time employee of Enro Shirt Co. After retiring from there in 1990, she worked weekends offering samples at supermarkets across the region for about 25 years. Virginia loved cooking for and spending time with her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, George and Elanor Vancampen; husband, Richard Butler; daughter Patricia Bittenbender; great-grandson Alex Bittenbender; and brothers George "Bud" Vancampen, Charles Vancampen and Robert Lewis.
She is survived by grandsons Michael (Casey) and Stephen (Suzanne); great-grandchildren Ashley Lile (Cody), Andrew Bittenbender and Jack Bittenbender; sister Helen Triplett; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Visitation will take place from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday at Arch L. Heady & Son Southern Funeral Home, 3601 Taylor Blvd. A funeral mass will take place at 9:30 am on Wednesday at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 S. 6th St., with a private burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
