Wes and David, I was so saddened to hear of your loss. Walt, without a doubt, was a fondly remembered member of our Walden family. I had the pleasure of running into him several times in the years since graduation and it was always interesting and fun to catch up.  He spoke so highly of his boys and was so obviously proud of you both.  We were all so fortunate to have known him. I will be praying for your family at this difficult time.

I've been thinking of you, Pat.  I'm so sorry to hear about Walter. I don't remember him, although I'm sure I saw him when I was a child.  I hope you and your sons are able to find comfort in your memories and in being together.

Thinking of you all, Pat, David, Wes and family. So many memories have gone through my mind since learning that Walt is gone. He was a special man with many fine qualities, and it's very hard for me to believe I won't see him again. Dear Johnson Family:
Mr. Johnson was a huge and positive influence to many of us associated with Country Day athletics.  He will be missed.

Captain Johnson passed on his love of history to me. I majored in history at Michigan State and returned here to Louisville to teach. I tried to do what he did which was make history interesting and relevant. He was a fine man and will be missed.

Captain Walter Johnson put up with me and my less than acceptable behavior only because I was his ace student in his history classes at The Kentucky Military Institute.  Along with another teacher there, Captain Johnson inculcated in me a not only a love for history, but of its importance to understanding much of the present.  It became my major field of study in college and I still read plenty of  it year after year.

I was at Ky. Country Day in the 70's and was fortunate to know Walt Johnson.  He was such a wonderful person!  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.  I will tell my 10 yr old daughter who now goes to KCD all about him.  My prayers are with all of his family,

Dear Pat, Wes, David & your respective families..My thoughts and prayers have been with you since hearing of your loss.  Pat..as you well know, I have known you and Walt as a "couple of one" for 50 years.  I share your sorrow and grief knowing from personal experience that nothing will ever be the same again.  However, I also know that strength comes to us when we need it the most.  I like to think there is one more star in the sky tonight and even though it's far far away, its brightness and warmth will still reach us to make the nights less dark and fearful. I also smile at the prospect of Walt and Tony meeting, shaking hands & watching from above An Irish saying helps me get on to the next moment, hour, day, year. He was a positive influence on all us KMI types, his presence in our lives left a indelible mark.  A great coach, and a marvelous teacher.  He is well remembered.  My sincere condolences to his entire family.

I knew Capt. Johnson when I attended Kentucky Military Institute.  I was there from 64 to graduation in 68. Capt. Johnson was by far my favorite teacher. I am very sad today will wear white sox all day and maybe for the rest of my life.

Family of Walt Johnson, please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss.  Walt was such a help in developing the programs and directing The Dwelling Place from its inception until he chose to seek other interests.  He added so much to so many children in the after school program as he gave them guidance as well as a safe haven until they returned to their homes.  I can still see his eyes light up on those rare occasions when he spoke of his family and their accomplishments.  The world was a better place because Walt chose to serve others ahead of self.
