William Irish

William (Bill) Donald Irish Sr. formerly of Louisville Kentucky passed away on May 25th 2023 in Columbus Ohio at the age of 89. Born July 7, 1933 in Belding Michigan to parents Ted and Minnie Irish, Bill grew up in Greenville Michigan and went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering at Michigan State University in 1955. During his time at college and several months after, Bill served in the Army Reserves while stationed at Fort McClellan in Alabama. Shortly after graduation Bill started his career as an Engineer at General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville and remained with GE for the next 37 years until his retirement in 1995.

Bill spent most of his life in Louisville with his wife Iris (May) Irish who preceded him in death in 2015 after nearly 60 years of marriage. They raised three children, sons William D. Irish Jr. and Ted Alan Irish, and daughter Sharon (Irish) Schneidtmiller who also preceded Bill in death in 2012. Grandchild Bethany Clum preceded him in death in 2004.

In addition to his 2 sons, Bill is survived by his daughter-in-law Julie (Lohr) Irish, daughter-in-law Teresa (Wu) Irish and grandchildren Troy Gadladge, Justin Gadladge, Adam Irish, Jessica Harris, Natalie Irish and Lana Wang, and multiple Great-Grandchildren.

Bill loved music, science and technology, and history and remained an avid reader up until the time of his death. Bill especially loved traveling, both for his job at GE, and for leisure with his wife and family which had him visit more than 20 countries in his lifetime.

Bill's wishes were to be cremated and placed at Resthaven Memorial Park where he will join his wife, Iris on the cemetery grounds.

The family has planned a memorial gathering at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on July 21, 2023 from 11am until 2pm to celebrate the life of a cherished Man, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Son.
