

A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, Bill was a proud graduate of Kansas State University, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, Bill enlisted in the Navy and served as an officer; being stationed in the Grand Turks during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After serving his time in the Navy, Bill found opportunity at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated more than 30 years as an engineer. Outside of his service and his work, Bill found enjoyment in golf, stain glass, fast cars, and traveling the world.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Josephine McKinney; brother, Frank McKinney; and his wife of 46 years, Marion “Lynne” McKinney.
Bill is survived by his wife of 7 years, Mary “Louise” (Schroader) McKinney; son, Joseph “Martin” (Jana) McKinney, his grandsons; Bradley McKinney and Miles (Emily) McKinney, his granddaughter, Juliet McKinney, and his stepdaughters; Jackie (Fred) Spencer and Rhonda (Phillip) Jasgarszewski.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm at Arch L. Heady & Son – Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40222. A memorial graveside will take place on Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at 11am, occurring at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204.
