William H. “Bill” Slater, 76, of Louisville passed away on October 18, 2022. He was born on April 28, 1946 in Charleston, WV to the late Bruce and Mary (Henshaw) Slater. Bill was a circus performer for 30 plus years, and a concessioner until 2004, retired from the Naval Ordnance Station, a former employee of the KY Expo Center, and Army Veteran of Vietnam, and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years Sandra Slater; a step son, Richard Catapano (Hilary); 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass for Bill will be held at 10 am Tuesday at Most Blessed Sacrament, 3509 Taylor Blvd. Interment will follow with military honors at Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. on Monday from 11 am to 8 pm. Memorial gifts may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
