William R Whyte

William Richard (Dick) Whyte, 92 of Prospect KY, passed away peacefully on Feb 20th, 2024 with his family by his side.

Dick was born on August 16th, 1931 to the late Robert Whyte Sr. and Myrtle Abell Whyte. Dick was a graduate of Flaget High School and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Louisville.

Dick’s passion was his work and he was a successful land and residential developer. He started his career in housing as a realtor working for Paul Semonin Realtors before going on to obtain a Broker’s license.

Dick took great joy not only in creating a subdivision but in providing a beautiful place for the residents to raise their families. He and his long time beloved friend and business partner Denise Yater (“ Miss Yater “as he referred to her) could often be seen in the office of Hillcrest laughing and bickering about every detail.

Dick’s developments were not the only imprint he made on the community. He had a generous heart and had a quiet way of paying it forward.

Dick is survived by his Daughter Pam Anderson ( Ken) of Lexington, KY. Having only one daughter Dick found the son he never had in his Son- in- Law Ken, who he loved talking UK basketball and football with.

He is also survived by his Brother Jim Whyte (wife Shirley) as well as his Brother John Whyte (wife Barbara who passed in 2018)

Dick is proceeded in death by his parents and his Brother Bob Whyte Jr.

Visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, on Saturday March 2 2024 from 1-3pm. ( Family Visitation begins at 12:00 noon) Service at Resthaven Chapel to immediately follow.
