Barbara Ladene Koonz

Johnstown- Barbara Koonz, 78, of Johnstown, Colo., died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at her home. Barbara Ladene Koonz, was born on May 10, 1941 in Platteville, the daughter of Orvis and Lois (Gates) DeFord. Barbara was raised and educated in Grand Junction. Upon the completion of her schooling she married William G. Sprague. From this union came 2 children: Laura and Kenneth Sprague. Due to Williams military career they lived many places throughout the world including Milwaukie, Wisc. The couple later divorced. She then married Claire Cooper in Washington State and from that marriage her daughter Cathy was born. Clair and Barbara later divorced. On December 13, Barbara married the love of her life and soul mate Tony Koonz in San Diego, California. The couple made their home in Johnstown, Colorado the last 30 years.

Barb enjoyed reading, flower gardening and working in her yard.

Barbara will be missed by her husband Tony H. Koonz of Johnstown; children: Kenneth Sprague of Johnstown, Laura Sprague of Racine, Wisconsin and Catherine Hermon of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren Wayne Erica Tony and Alex; great-grandchildren: Katalina and Ashlynn; siblings: William, Virginia and Debbie

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings: William and Debbie.
