Betty was born September 29, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Shotts) Swarm of Oil City, PA.
She married Clifford "Gene" Johnston Jr. on November 3, 1973, and he preceded her in death on December 9, 1999.
Betty attended Cranberry Jr/Sr High School. She was the head of her family. She loved each and every one of them. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to each of them. Some of her favorite hobbies were going to bingo, doing word searches, putting together puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Charles Johnston, of Severance, CO; Joe Hovis and his partner Linda Polzer of Dauphin, PA; a daughter, Betty Eaton-Carlson and her husband Todd of Severance, CO; three grandchildren, Phillip Eaton of Severance, CO; Ciara Hovis and her husband Kelsen Case of Boulder, CO; Savanna Hovis of Chicago, IL; one great grandchild Arthur Case of Boulder, CO; two brothers, Norman Swarm and his wife Patricia of Oil City, PA; Chuck Swarm and his wife Charmayne of Athens, TX; one sister, Marilyn Orsino and late husband John of Franklin, PA; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Swarm, a brother-in-law, John Orsino, sister-in-law, Karen Swarm, and a nephew, Toe Stover.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21, at First Church of God in Oil City, PA with Larry Deal, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Heckathorn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 286 S Main St Seneca, PA 16346.
