Carl Theodore Sorrentino Junior, 82, passed away on February 18, 2026. He was a resident of Windsor, CO. Carl was born to parents Carl (Senior) and Ethel Sorrentino on November 11, 1943 in central Illinois.
After studying journalism at the University of Notre Dame and earning his Master’s degree at the University of Missouri, Carl was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force as a second lieutenant. He met his wife Susan (nee Bothe) while stationed at intelligence school in Denver, CO. He served as the intelligence officer for an F-4 jet squadron in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970.
After honorable discharge from the military he moved to Colorado and served as a public information officer for the Colorado Department of Transportation until 1998, residing in Denver and later Aurora. After retirement Carl and Sue moved to Windsor, CO. He worked part-time at Markley motors and volunteered as a naturalist for Larimer County Parks, leading nature hikes and hosting bald eagle viewings near his home.
Carl was an active soul, jogging 7 days a week in his middle years and later earning his second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was always quick to laugh and had a twinkle in his eye when sharing his favorite new (or not so new) joke.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents and wife Susan. He is survived by sister Janet of Glenarm, IL and sons Jeff of Seattle, WA and Brent of San Mateo, CA.
