Joel Keith Jensen

Joel Jensen, 82, of Loveland, Colorado passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, August 4, 2023. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, Joel was the son of Myron Jensen and Blanche “Bee” Hill Jensen. Joel was a graduate of North Carolina State University and Oklahoma State University where he obtained his Doctorate degree in veterinary medicine. At Oklahoma State, he met Sue Ann Brown, his wife of 57 years.

Joel turned his love of animals into a long career in veterinary medicine. He cared for many beloved pets in Western North Carolina at his practice, Arden Animal Hospital. He also loved the outdoors, acting and storytelling. Joel also had a passion for acting in local community theater and storytelling, where his sharp wit and sense of humor made him a natural entertainer. Joel was devoted to God and family, and was a dedicated husband, father, and “Popeye,” as well as an active member of his churches in both North Carolina and Colorado.

Surviving Joel are Sue; children Keith Jensen of Windsor, CO, Kurt Jensen of McCarthy, AK, and Ashley Jensen Weeks of Asheville, NC; grandchildren Will of CO, LukeAllen, Allayah, Jazlyn, and Naomi of AK, and Hannah and David of NC; brother Jan Jensen of TN and sister Joan Hux of NC.
