Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 21 at the Allnutt Funeral Home in Loveland, Colorado, with Reggie Coe officiating. Family will be receiving friends and relatives immediately following the service.
Linda was born on September 13, 1948 at her parents’ home in Beallsville, Ohio, to Norma Jean Ward and Walter Ward. She was married on October 28, 1967 to Harris Milton Coe Jr., a Navy man, in her parents’ house in Barnesville. Linda and Harris met in a bar in Washington DC named Someplace Else when she refused to move her chair out of Harris’ way. This began a love affair that would last over 52 years. Linda celebrated 50 years of marriage to Harris in 2017, and she would have gladly taken 50 more.
Linda moved to Washington D.C. where she began a 30-year career working for the Federal government. She and Harris later moved to Denver, and fell in love with Colorado. They also lived in Conroe, Beaumont, and Amarillo, Texas, before returning to Colorado, living first in Conifer before spending the last 24 years in Loveland.
Above everything else, Linda was a loving mother and wife. She hung hummingbird feeders in the summer at their house in Conifer, she taught her children and grandchildren to read, and she could not say no to pottery or dangly earrings at craft shows. She worked tirelessly, read constantly, and never missed one of her sons’ track meets, basketball games, or after school events.
Linda was preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Coe, her father Walter Ward, and her mother-in-law and “42” partner Irene Secrest. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Harris Milton Coe Jr., her sons Jeffrey and wife Amber of Dallas, TX and Eric and wife Kara of St. Petersburg, Russia. In addition, she is survived by four wonderful grandchildren: Madyson Abeyta, DJ Coe, Tim Coe, and Ella Coe. She also leaves behind her mother, Norma Jean Ward of Barnesville, OH, as well as siblings Don and Angie Ward of Ft. Myers, FL, Larry and Deanna Ward of Findlay, OH, Jamie and Bob Fisher of Myrtle Beach, NC, and Jill and Dale Frank of Louisville, OH, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda's name to the James Cancer Hospital, Precision Career Medicine Fund #315680 (660 Ackerman Road, P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, Oh, 43218),
or to the PVH/MCR Foundation, toward the UC Health Cancer Center (2315 East Harmony, Suite 200, Fort Collins, CO 80528).
