Mary (Luella) 95, passed away from a short illness with her family by her side on the morning of 01/20/2023. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Klein and her daughter Judy Pendlay. She is survived by her grandson Richie Pendlay and great grandchildren Destiny, Dustin, Cayla, Ashley, Natasha. Elmer’s family: Karl Sterkel, Judy Capalbo and Jesse Capalbo (great grandson).
She was 2 years old when her mother passed away. She lived with her father in South Dakota until the 8th grade, returning to Berthoud, CO, where she lived with her grandmother and worked locally at Walgreens and the Cherry Orchard. She then married Edwin Klein. They worked as sharecroppers until the Loveland Dog Track opened in 1955. They purchased the Dog Kennel Farm and boarded greyhound dogs. Edwin passed in 1979. Her son Larry and herself continued until 1998 when the farm was sold. In 1987 she married Elmer J. Sterkel . Together they lived a life of Polka dancing, traveling and family time.
Elmer passed in 2009. She lived alone for several years before moving in with her grandson Richie and family. She continued driving, polka dancing, cooking, baking and doing yard work until her final days! She was an amazing and strong lady, always there to lend a hand with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Thursday February 2nd at 12:30pm at Allnutt Funeral Services - Hunter Chapel.
