Mike lived in California from the age of 1 1/2 until he was 7, when his family moved back to Colorado. He spent the remainder of his life in the Loveland area.
Mike has always loved the outdoors, riding motorcycles and rock climbing in his younger years. Mike was in and out of prison most of his life and got out in August 2017. He met Melaine Hughes in Loveland when he got released from prison. They started dating on October 7, 2017 and got married on October 7, 2020. If it wasn't for Melaine, Mike wouldn't have changed his life around.
Mike and Melaine had the most amazing relationship that others could only ever dream about having. They were true soulmates and they were each other's best friend. They did everything together, including Mike riding his electric mountain board and Melaine riding her electric scooter. They would go riding all over town together until two years prior to Mike's passing.
Mike was gentle, kind, compassionate, loving, and peaceful according to others who knew him well. Mike worked in maintenance at JBS Meat Wholesaler for 3 1/2 years, until a year prior to his passing due to medical issues he was dealing with.
Mike is survived by his wife, Melaine Tori Hughes; step-sons, Coddie Allen Kidd of Milliken and Dylan Michael Burkard of Cheyenne, Wyoming; mother, Terrill Anne (Donohoe) Marquez of Cheyenne; sister, Rebecca Lynn Hughes of Cheyenne; brothers, Anthony Scott Hughes of Milo, Missouri and Adam James Hughes of Daytona Beach, Florida; mother-in-law, Becky Lee Kidd of Loveland; father-in-law Michael Edward Kidd of Loveland; nieces, Kaitlyn Ann Hughes of Cheyenne and Amber Louise Shedwin of Milliken as well as other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Allnutt Funeral Service-Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland.
