Born October 4, 1943, in East Orange, New Jersey, to Robert Sr. and Julie Breitenfeld, Daddy’O graduated from Rutgers University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology--Go RU!
A devoted steward of the environment, he dedicated many years to environmental causes before sharing his lifelong passion for music and art with the Boulder, Colorado music community.
Unapologetically authentic, Daddy’O’s signature style mirrored the way he lived--with color, texture, and rhythm woven into nearly every moment. A kindred spirit to many, he was admired for his intellect, warmth, and discerning nature, and will be remembered above all for his generous heart, infectious laugh, unforgettable hugs, and epic storytelling.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Smith; his former wife, Merle Citron; his son, Chad Breitenfeld; and his grandson, Noah Breitenfeld. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jim (Chris), Scott (Lori), and Kim (Bart) Straughn, along with his loyal dog, Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Julie Breitenfeld; his brother, Michael; and his many beloved pets.
His presence will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rest easy, Daddy’O. 🎶🎨🏔️🐾🌎🌸☮️🤟🏼
