Robert graduated from Windsor High School in 2004. He was awarded a full ride scholarship to play baseball at Trinidad State Junior College in Trinidad, CO. Robert obtained his Associate’s Degree while attending Trinidad. He went on to play baseball at Colorado Christian University and Metro State University where his baseball career ended due to an ACL tear. Robert was a natural born athlete and loved the game of baseball where he excelled and was known for his ability to throw a pitch. Robert played baseball with passion and shined every time he stepped on the field. He later worked alongside his dad and brother at Tom Ladd Plumbing and Heating. After his father’s passing, he continued to work in plumbing and heating with his brother and others. Robert had a brilliant mind that showed through the most intricate areas of his work.
Robert made a huge impact on the lives of numerous family and friends by sharing his heart of gold. Robert felt deeply and was man enough to share his feelings openly with those around him. Robert knew who he was and displayed that with confidence. He was charismatic, charming, funny, genuine, and sweet. Robert was truly one of a kind. He was thought of as a gentle giant and true gentleman. One of the most comforting places to be was wrapped inside his arms with his tight hugs and big and tall stature. Robert also brought comfort to many through his amazing culinary skills in the kitchen, and he loved spending time cooking and grilling all kinds of food. Rob enjoyed fishing, camping, campfires in the backyard, planting his garden of food and peppers galore for his mom’s famous recipe of homemade salsa, raising all sorts of animals, nourishing his chicken coop, playing softball, watching baseball and football, seeing movies, playing video games, and working out with one of his best friends, Justin Elley. He filled his life with so many adventures. Rob always made others laugh with his sense of humor and contagious smile. Robert was so generous and always wanted to see everyone happy. It was not about what he had… but who he had.
Above all, Robert had an innate ability to love. He had a huge heart, and his favorite thing to do was give his love to all he knew. His passion for those he loved was most evident in his role as a father. Robert wanted to give his kids the best life he could provide and took every opportunity to guide and teach them. Robert knew the importance of making sure his children felt they were loved and demonstrated this by example. He spent many nights dancing with Austyn, going on daddy-daughter dates and even taught her how to mow the lawn. He would wrestle with Colton nonstop. He was teaching Colton how to throw a baseball and they loved taking naps together.
