On March 1st, 2026 Lamory Antonio Capel Jr. came into this world with the most precious tiny lion roar. Rory’s name, which he shares with his father, means “priceless love”. He also shares the name Antonio with his Abuela Antonia, and was given the same initials, LAC, as his Nana Lindy Anne Capel.
He was his father’s twin but had his mama’s eyes.
Rory received the best care from his nurse Courtney who loved him like her own. Her protection and championing of Rory was a gift to his family.
On March 9th, 2026 Rory was welcomed into heaven by: Lindy Capel, Meron Capel, Connor Capel, Logina y Pedro Rojas, Georgia y Bernardo Gonzalez, Aurora Rojas, Jesse Vargas, Mary Ann “Cowboy” Rangel, Soledad “Rosie” Vargas, and Fortunata Vargas.
Rory’s favorite color is and will always be sky blue. He spent his last moments with his mama and father feeling the sunshine on his face and listening to the birds sing. His parents told him about wildflowers, mountains, oceans, and sunsets, and sang to him “Somewhere over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Rory is forever his parents’ perfect spring baby boy.
Rory is a beloved son, grandson, nephew, and cousin. He is survived by his parents, Lamory and Jeanette Capel and grandparents, Abuela Antonia Rojas, Abuelo Felix Rojas Sr. and Papa Michael Capel.
Rory is the nephew to Brittnie and Corey Capel, Elisa Francik and Curt Capel, Lindsey and Chris Capel, Leanna and Michael Barker, Lacey Capel, Lora and Ted Unruh, Lissy and David Kennedy, Natalie Capel, Cosette Capel, Anna Capel, Benyam Capel, Jennifer and Felix Rojas Jr., and Stephanie and Joseph Rojas. Between the Capels and Rojases, Rory is the youngest of 28 cousins.
The family is having a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Denver Ronald McDonald House — a place that kept Rory’s mama and father close to their son when he needed them most. If you’d like to participate, please see links below and be sure to label your memorial gift as part of a Tribute Fund for Rory Capel.
If you’d like to honor Rory’s life with your family, Rory's family encourages you to spend April 12th, 2026 outside feeling the sunshine on your face — Rory’s favorite thing to do. And if you’d like to share with others who love him, please comment with your sunset picture below. His parents see Rory in every sunset.
