Ronald James Martinez

Ronald James MartinezMay 12, 1943 - October 19, 2014 Ron was born and raised in San Francisco. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1961. After serving in the Marine Corp he returned to San Francisco, married and worked in various occupations until joining the SFPD. He moved to Sonoma after a job related injury caused him to take an early retirement and then to Lake Co. where he lived until his death. An avid golfer Ron was well known through out the Co. for his long drive and many tournament wins. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Xavier Martinez, her 3 children, 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren who knew him as Papa Ron. He will be dearly missed by his sons, Michael Martinez of San Antonio, Texas and Troy Martinez, his wife and 2 daughters of Austin, Texas. His sisters Marti and husband Jim Connolly of Novato and Diana Martinez and husband Bill Van Zandt of Sonoma. He leaves behind 2 Granddaughters, 5 Nieces, 2 Nephews, 6 Grand Nephews and 4 Grand Nieces. Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Holy Cross Cemetary in Colma at 2pm. A celebration of his life will be held at Hidden Valley Lake Greenview room on Saturday, Nov 8th from 1 to 4pm.
