Alfred Orlando Costanzo

Alfred Costanzo passed from this life on November 27, 2012 at the age of 93. He was born on June 4, 1919 in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he spent his childhood. After graduation from the University of New Hampshire in 1940, he served as an instructor in the U.S. Air Force Training Command until the end of World War II.

In July, 1944, he married Bess Elaine Ayers, sharing 65 years of marriage until her death in 2009. Together they had three children, Karen, Nancy, and Charles. Prior to moving to Lubbock in 1955, they also resided in Plainview and Lorenzo.

Alfred is survived by daughter, Karen Hollon and husband Michael of Plano; daughter, Nancy Shawell of Houston; and son, Charles Costanzo and wife Linda of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Amy Davis and husband, John of Aledo, Texas; Jason Costanzo and wife Anel Escalante of Austin, Texas; and Carrie Loper and husband Lesley of Aledo, Texas; great-grandchildren, Meredith Davis, Madeline Loper, and Ty Loper of Aledo.

The family also wishes to express our special gratitude to Mary Gonzales and Cherry Porter who provided such loving care to our Dad in his last days.

During his business lifetime, he organized and served as President of Western Tank & Steel Corp., an organizer and Chairman of the Board at Bank of the West, and Executive Vice-President of Manchester Tank and Equipment Co. In addition, he served as adviser to the LPG Division of the Railroad Commission of Texas and as a State Director of the Texas Mini-Storage Association.

His retirement years were spent helping develop a new public library in Spur, Texas and maintaining ranching interests in Dickens County.
