Ann Shimek

Ann Shimek was born on April 3, 1914 in Megargel, Texas as one of 10 children. She became the loving and devoted wife of AJ Shimek (deceased) in 1938. Ann was a mother to three children; Roberta Stanley

(Canyon) and special friend, Louis Camp, Vic Shimek and wife, Jan (Wolfforth) and Shirley Gillespie and husband harold D. (San Antonio). Ann and her family were active members of St. John Neumann and St. Elizabeth Catholic churches in Lubbock,Texas since moving to Lubbock in 1945. She was in the Catholic Daughters, Altar Society as well as the KCettes.

Ann was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren; Chris Stanley and wife, Gwen, of Tempe, AZ., Kevin Stanley and wife Shirley of Heath, Texas, Andy Shimek, Cary Shimek and wife, Shonda, Cody Shimek and wife, Brandi, Candi Shimek, Christa Shimek, Stacey Levin and husband, Jason and Anthony Gillespie. and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ann loved to garden and was well-known for this in her neighborhood. Ann had the ability to find God's beauty and grace in all things from flowers to family. Those who knew her will forever be changed and blessed by her love.

A rosary will be held at 7 pm at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel on Sunday, February 20th at 7:00 pm and funeral services Monday morning February 21st at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth's Church Chapel.
