Woody was raised in Wellman, Texas, where he learned the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance at an early age. He graduated from Wellman High School in 1967 and soon after devoted his life to farming. A lifelong farmer, Woody grew cotton and peanuts, taking immense pride in his work and the land he cultivated. Farming was more than a career to him—it was a way of life that reflected his resilience, grit, and deep-rooted commitment to providing for his family.
In 1996, Woody married Holly, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and shared memories. Their marriage was one of partnership and devotion, and together they raised two daughters, Ashley and Erin, who were the pride and joy of his life. Woody was a dedicated father who led by example, teaching the importance of hard work, honesty, and standing strong in the face of challenges.
As his family grew, Woody embraced his role as a grandfather with great pride and joy. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Ashley and Erin; his sons-in-law, Bryce and Russ; and his cherished grandchildren, Drew, and Jax Rowan, Hadley, and Braxton Stockman. His grandchildren brought him endless happiness, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Woody is also survived by his siblings, Dollie Ellison and her husband Delmon of Seagraves, Deanie Thrash and her husband Terry of Horseshoe Bay, Debbie Adair of Levelland, and Danita Jones and her husband Clayton of Panguipulli Chile, along with 9 nieces and nephews (Tobin, Cody, Nathan, Lindsey, Vivian, Claire, Melissa, Corey, and Letitia) who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his brother, L.P. Adair and his parents Art Willard Sr. and Evelyn Jean Adair.
Woody was known for his strong personality—he could be stubborn and set in his ways—but those who knew him best also knew him as a man of honor, integrity, and deep generosity. He was a hardworking provider, a loyal family man, and someone who would quietly step in to help others without expecting anything in return. His kind heart and willingness to give made a lasting impact on many lives.
Outside of his work, Woody found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time on the golf course and cherished the adventures he and Holly took, off-roading in their Jeep. The mountains of Utah and Colorado held a special place in his heart, offering him both excitement and peace. Those trips created lasting memories with family and friends and reflected his love for the outdoors and sense of adventure.
Woody’s life was one defined by dedication—to his work, his family, and his values. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and love that will continue to live on through all who knew him.
