Ausencio Ramos Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, and faithful servant of the Lord, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Born on December 18, 1931, in Buda, Texas, he was the son of the late Policarpio and Francisca Hernandez.
In 1953, Ausencio met the love of his life, Irene Madrid Hernandez, at a dance in Springer, New Mexico. Following a brief and romantic courtship, they were united in holy matrimony on December 26, 1953, in Clovis, New Mexico. Together, they shared seventy-two years of unwavering marriage and devotion.
A man of strong work ethic, Ausencio served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in September 1962. His professional life included time with the Santa Fe Railroad in Slaton and Good Pasture Grains. He ultimately dedicated 45 years to a lifelong career in farming, where he found great fulfillment as a farmhand.
Ausencio’s personal passions included a love for wrestling, baseball, fishing, and the careful stewardship of his home and livestock. Above all, he was a man of profound faith who prayed the Rosary daily. He took immense pride in his five daughters, instilling in them a love for God and a commitment to higher education. He often remarked, “It is better when you have your family around you.”
A cornerstone of his community, Ausencio was a founding member of San Ramon Catholic Church. He served as a former president of the parish council and remained a devoted attendee of Friday Adoration until no longer able to attend.
