I am so sad to hear of this great loss to Belinda's family and friends.  Knowing her from our earliest days at Kennedy/Audubon Baptist, I remember how sweet and eternally good natured she was.  I know she will be terribly missed and her memory will always be treasured by all whose lives she touched.

On behalf of Belinda's classmates at Messick class of 1967, we send our condolences to her family.  Belinda was such a sweet person.

My heart goes out to the Elam family.  I want you to know how Belinda always lit up my day when we taught together in junior high.  I always looked forward to lunch because she made me laugh due to her fantastic wit.  She had a marvelous and rare storytelling ability that will be missed by many.

Mrs. Elam was my statistics teacher in my junior year. She always had the funniest stories and I really enjoyed that class. I can honestly say she was my favorite teacher at Monterey and I know that many other students feel the same. She was so kind hearted and fun to be around and I feel blessed to have met her. I will be praying for her friends and family.

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Elam my 7th grade year at Evans and my senior year at Monterey. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate, uplifting, and hilarious teacher. I have SO many incredible memories from senior year. She always had us laughing. She will truly be missed and always live on in our hearts.

Belinda was not only an exceptional person, but she was an exception teacher as well.  She taught dual credit Math for South Plains College for over ten years, preparing students for advanced academic studies and the rigors of the world of work.  It was an honor to have known her and worked with her all these years.

Dear, dear Emmett, Jeffrey and Phillip...I am saddened to hear that your wife and mom, Belinda, passed away.  She was one of the sweetest people who shaped my kids lives, particularly my own Phillip.  I recall many soccer and ball games, pta meetings, and times by the pool where she would keep me laughing with her stories about Memphis and her family.  She always brought her smile and southern hospitality.  I will always remember her with great fondness. With love & deepest sympathy.

Such a special lady, so sorry to hear of her passing.  I have very fond memories of Belinda sitting in the bleachers with my dad and me at Monterey baseball games.  Her marvelous sense of humor and upbeat attitude were so special!

My family and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to your family. Mrs. Elam was my college algebra teacher my junior year (2008-2009). We watched her fight this battle with honor and courage. I lost my grandmother to cancer that year and while facing her own battle she was such an encouragement to me.We often talked about how she was feeling.  I stopped by the funeral home yesterday as I will not be able to come today, but was advised that the family had not been there yet. I wanted to sign the book but was also advised that one had not been put out yet. Heaven just got a little sweeter when Mrs. Elam arrived.

Belinda was a very sweet lady who I had the privilege of getting to know through VBS at St. Luke's UMC. She helped Jenny with a 1st grade class and I was across the hall with another class. We spent alot of time together 
as we went through the day in VBS. We had alot of fun during those days of VBS.
Belinda taught my son last year at MHS. She was his teacher for the college algebra class. We sent alot of time e-mailing each other last year about my son. She was a very good teacher!
My son, Kolby heard about her passing on Thursday and when he told me he said mom she was a good teacher! She was a blessing to him in this class. With the extra time and help she gave to him, he made it through the class. Thank You Belinda!

Belinda was an inspiration to me. She was a fine example of how to be a great professional, wife and mother.  I loved hearing stories about her life as a teacher, mom and friend.  She had a real gift for making you feel as if you were there watching the story unfold.  She loved her family and it was evident in how she lived her life.  She will be missed.
