

She was born August 6, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from The University of Memphis and The University of Arkansas with degrees in mathematics. She was a teacher with the LISD for 15 years. She was a member of United Methodist Church, where she had held several leadership positions.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Emmett Walker Elam, and their sons, Jeffrey Elam of Houston, and Phillip Elam of Lubbock; her brothers, Ken Pigue and wife Gail of Memphis, and Stan Pigue of Virginia; her maternal Aunt Dorothy Humphrey and husband Bill, and several nieces and cousins.
Se is predeceased by her parents Mable and Calvin Pigue.
The family will receive friends at Resthaven Funeral Home on Sunday, September 26, from 1 – 3 p.m. A graveside service will be at Memphis Memory Gardens in Memphis, Tennessee. Please join us in celebrating Belinda’s life by visiting her memorial at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
