Bobbie Jo Curtis

Bobbie Jo Curtis of Lubbock passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014, at the age of 84. She was born on December 31, 1929, in Comanche Texas to Code and Ethel Murphree. She graduated from Comanche High School in 1947. On November 10, 1951 she married John Edwin Curtis at Reese Air Force Base. She was a nurse at West Texas Hospital and at St. Mary of the Plains. In 1968 she and John established Smokers Haven. Her passions were needlepoint and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and brothers Curtis, Pat and Roger Murphree. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Meiers and husband Jim of Lubbock; sons, Carl Curtis and wife Jill of San Diego, California, Larry Curtis and wife Rhonda of Escondido, California, John Curtis and wife Jennifer of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Amanda Meiers,

Cody Meiers, Brian E Curtis, Kristine Curtis, Lisa Murphy, Gina Arwood, Brian P Curtis, Dana Curtis and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 11am Wednesday September 10 at Resthaven Memorial Park with a celebration of life to follow at Bacon Heights Baptist Church at 12 noon with Truman Johnson, Associate Pastor and Jim Meiers, officiating.
