Brayden Chase Coverdale

Beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, Brayden Coverdale, 21- a 2012 Stephenville High School graduate, former Tarleton State University student and athlete, passed away unexpectedly, March 14, 2016.

While at Stephenville High School, He was awarded all-state honors as a defensive back for the Yellow Jacket football team and involved in other extracurricular activities. During his time at SHS he helped his team to the regional finals as a junior and senior; made the DFW Super Team as a senior; Padilla Poll first-team all-state; THSCA second-team all-state and THSWA honorable mention all-state in 2011; THSCA academic all-state in football and baseball; and lettered in football, baseball, track and golf.

After high school he went on to play football at Tarleton State University as a reserve for multiple positions, where in 2014 he was honored with the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He recently transferred to Texas Tech.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Nicki and Matt Colbert of Shallowater; father and step-mother, Leroy and Christi Coverdale of Meridian, Texas; sisters, Makinzi and Kalli Colbert of Shallowater; step-brothers, Ben and Staci Hendershott of Texarkana, Texas, Jacob and Destini Hendershott of Amarillo, Joel and Anna Hendershott of Austin, Texas, step-sister, Holly Hendershott of Waco, Texas; grandparents Larry and Norma Martin of Canadian, Texas, Mike Colbert of Breckenridge, Texas; great-grandparents, Margaret and James Lair of Amarillo; aunts and uncles, Staci and John Adamson of Lubbock, Rick and Mitzi Dillman of Amarillo, Cody and Cari Kinsey of Lubbock, Vicki Colbert of Hamilton, Texas, Phil and Lynn Yount of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James Coverdale of Perryton, Texas; and numerous relatives, cousins and friends.

Brayden was preceded in death by his grandparents, Terry Jones, Linda Colbert, Homer and Peggy Coverdale; great-grandparents, Hershel Swinney, Edgar and Melva Jones, Clyde and Ruby Faye Harvey and Charlie and Faye Colbert.
