Brian, a longtime resident of Lubbock and Slaton, passed away Sunday morning. He was born in Lubbock, graduated from Monterrey, attended Texas Tech, and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 157. He later became an Assistant Scout Master with that same troop and was a Cub Scout Master in Lubbock. Brian joined the Catholic Church on Easter of this year, and was a member at Slaton St. Joseph’s. He was renowned for his silent service, volunteering and helping with just about everything.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Glinnis Joan. Survivors include his parents, Robert M. and Karen J. Spruill of Waco; brother, R. Shawn (Woody) of St. Louis, MO, Rome of Lulling, TX, and Justin of Reno, NV.
The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel and the Resurrection Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Slaton (19th / Division St) with Msgr. Nicolas Rendon, Deacon Leroy V. Behnke and Deacon Adam V. Behnke officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Slaton or the Knights of Columbus Council #2571.
