She grew up in Canyon, Texas, eldest of four children, born to Carl F. Rogers & Ida May Hamblen Rogers. Carlene lived the fairy tale romance meeting the love of her life, Bill Morton, as a teenager. They were married June 6, 1952 with her Senior year in High School still ahead of her. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Tech University. Carlene was an avid tennis player and loved to travel the world with their tennis dinner club friends. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother and beloved Nana.
