Carmelita Anthony, born on June 3, 1956, to Fransica and Lousiano Soliz, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 69. She left this world the same way she lived in it — strong, courageous, and surrounded by love.
Carmelita was a woman defined by her resilience and independence. From a young age, she understood the value of hard work and carried that work ethic with her throughout her life. She was never afraid to speak her mind, stand her ground, or fight for what she believed in. Life brought its share of challenges, but Carmelita faced each one head-on, putting up a great fight with determination and strength that inspired everyone around her.
Above all, Carmelita’s greatest pride and joy were her children. She was a devoted and fiercely loving mother to Teresa(Jesus jr) , Andres, and Rogelio(Sonja). She never missed an opportunity to brag about them and their accomplishments. Whether big or small, their successes were her successes, and she carried them in her heart with immense pride. Her love extended even further when she became a grandmother to her beloved granddaughter, Onali Cruz, who brought light and happiness into her life. She got to build a life with her husband Carlos Juarez; they shared many adventures.
Carmelita wasn’t just a mother to her own children — she was a mom to many. Her home and heart were always open. She offered advice, comfort, tough love, and encouragement to anyone who needed it. Many people found guidance, protection, and unconditional love in her presence.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Luciano Soliz (San Juana), Gregorio Soliz, Benito Soliz, Alonzo Soliz(Laura), Dora De La O (Juan), Florita Soliz, Ramon Soliz (Allison) and Senida Soliz and her Sister in law Janie Soliz. Her many beloved Nephews and Nieces she considered her children. She was preceded in death by her Mother Franscia and father Luciano Soliz, her brother Adan Soliz and her sister in laws Juana Soliz and Lupe Soliz. The bond she shared with her family was strong, and she carried her family roots proudly throughout her life.
Carmelita’s legacy is one of strength, loyalty, deep love, and perseverance. She was very devoted to The Lord Our Savior. She had a deep connection with him and prayed often for all her loved ones. She taught those around her how to stand tall, work hard, and love fiercely. Though she may no longer be with us physically, her voice, her laughter, her lessons, and her unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, granddaughter, family, and all who were blessed to know her.
Services Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. A Celebration of Life will take place on February 19, beginning at 2:00 p.m., also at Lake Ridge.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. In her words “ I love you more” a phrase will cherish forever.
