Carron Ann Shelton (Mahle), 80, of Atlanta, Georgia went to be with her Lord on April 8, 2024. She was born in Lubbock, Texas; daughter of Howard Arleigh and Alice Sadie Moore Mahle, and spent the early years of her life there.
Carron was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met the love of her life, Michael Shelton, in High School and they were married for 56 years until Michael’s passing.
Michael was a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force and also retired from Southwest Airlines. This afforded them the opportunity to move around the country and experience the beauty of many states including Texas, Virginia, Florida, and Utah, among others. It was through these relocations that Carron “endured” camping, learned how to snow and water ski, and absolutely “rocked” thrilling roller coaster rides, even into her mid 70’s!
Carron had a true love of flying as evidenced by the fact that she and Michael built and flew their own aerobatic airplane, enjoying many hours flying their prized RV-6 across the country to many air shows for RV enthusiasts. It was in this plane that Carron obtained her private pilot’s license by completing her first solo flight.
Carron is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Kimberly Shelton of Charlotte, NC, Cara and John Knight of Atlanta, GA, and Andrea and David Dotson of Wichita, KS. In addition, she leaves behind six grandchildren and their spouses - Joshua and Natalie Dotson, Alyssa and Derek Hemmen, Cade and Megan Dotson, John and Anne Knight, David Knight, Sadie Knight, and three great-grandchildren: Emma Dotson, Jameson Dotson and Parker Hemmen.
Carron was a kind and caring person, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Please consider a charitable donation in her honor to Paws for Purple Hearts.
