

Charles W. Waters was born on August 14, 1927, in Abilene, Texas, and passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. He is fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather (Paw Paw), and friend. Charles dedicated much of his life to his faith, serving as a devoted member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church and actively participating in his community.
Family and Legacy
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, H.O. Waters and Gladys D’Spain Waters; brothers Granville E. Waters and Arthur Waters; wife Lila Crowder Waters; nephew Martin Waters; and grandson Evan Michael Waters. He is survived by his sons Charles Paul and Benjamin (Crystal "Cricket"); daughter Leslie O'Connor (Philip); his grandchildren, Joshua Jobb (Angelina), Vivian O'Connor, Emma, Amie, Jeremiah, Jacob, and Ellianna Waters; great granddaughter Sophia Lillie Jobb; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Military Service
Charles served honorably in the U.S. Army Company C, 13th Signal Service Battalion, during the post-World War II occupation of Germany. He attained the final rank of Technician, Fifth Grade, reflecting his dedication and commitment to his country.
Education and Career
He attended Texas Tech University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Petroleum Geology. After completing his studies, Charles worked as a Drafting Engineer for Pioneer Natural Gas/Energas of Lubbock, dedicating 30 years to the company.
Visitation and Funeral Services
Visitation for Charles W. Waters will be held on February 20, 2026, at Lake Ridge Memorial Chapel, located at 6025 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424, from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on February 21, 2026, at Christian Life Assembly of God in Lubbock, Texas.
