

Clarence E Davis, 89, passed away Saturday October 6, 2012 in Abilene. Clarence was a lifelong resident of Lubbock until moving to Abilene 18 months ago. He was born July 25, 1923 in Stamford, TX to Virgil and Linnie Davis. Clarence graduated from Lubbock High School. He married Bessie Thompson May 14, 1943 and joined the US Navy in September and served on a Sub Chaser in the Pacific Theater. Clarence worked 36 years for General Telephone. He enjoyed listening to music and loved being with his family.
Clarence is survived by 5 daughters, Laura Stallings of Lubbock, Jane and Gene Foerster of Abilene, Kaye and Jerry McKay of Rowlett, TX, Melinda Elliott and Henry Lara of Lubbock and Debbie Chatham of McKinney TX; one son Gary and Tammy Elliott of Lubbock; one brother Virgil Davis Jr. and one sister Mary Karr; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bessie Davis who passed away in 2001and his wife Christine Elliott Davis in 2011, one brother and 2 sisters. Visitation will be today, Oct. 9 from 7 to 9 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday Oct. 10 at 1 pm in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
