Clifford Wayne Conner

Clifford “Namps” Conner, 82, of Shallowater, TX, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Clifford was born July 21, 1939 in Hamlin, Texas, to Thomas and Florene Conner. He attended Abernathy High School and while in high school met the love of his life, Sandra (Mabry) Conner. They were married on December 22, 1956, the high school sweethearts later had 4 children that they raised in Shallowater.

Clifford was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shallowater where he served in various roles over the years. He had a gift of woodworking and he loved making projects for others, especially his family. He took pride in making intricate crosses to share his love of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and loved taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to help pick veggies from the garden. You could always walk into his house and find a western on his TV, his favorites being anything with John Wayne. Prior to the high-tech times, he almost always had a Louis L’amour book nearby, often in his back pocket. He had a love for old rock and roll and country music and enjoyed picking on the guitar. He took joy in dressing up as Jolly ol’ Saint Nick at Christmas time to surprise the children.

Clifford is survived by his daughter Caran Conner of Shallowater, his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Andra Conner of Lubbock, Texas, his daughter and son-in-law, Seena and Tracy Simmons of Shallowater, and his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sherri Conner of Shallowater. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and their families: Charlet Robinson and husband, Jason and 3 children, Jude, Tyson, and Sarah; Carol Dockrey and husband, Lance, and 3 children Boston, Dash, and Magnolia; Courtney Line and husband, Tyler and daughter, Landrye; Christal Gailes and husband, Tyree and 2 children, Mia and Nolan; Brooke Cole and husband, Brian and 2 children, Brodye and Breelyn; Thomas Simmons and wife, Sherri and 3 children, Jeremy, Lexi and Blaze; Jake Conner and wife, Melany, and 3 children, Case, Colt and Cash; Shayna Buckner and husband, Luke, 2 children, Baylor and Reid; Zack Simmons and wife, Chelsi, and 2 children, Finn and Lyla. He is also survived by his sister Cindy McDonald and husband Johnny; and Sister-in-law Judy Conner. Clifford is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Florene Conner, wife Sandra Conner, and brother Tommy Conner.

The family invites you to celebrate his life with a visitation beginning on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 6pm – 8pm. Celebration of Life funeral service will take place on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Shallowater First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
