

Darvin M. Huddleston, 76, of Lubbock passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 of a heart attack. Darvin was born September 7, 1937 in Smyer, TX to Ivy and Meta Lee (Paschal) Huddleston. Darvin married the love of his life Ava Nell Barley March 26, 1959, they recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. Darvin graduated from Lubbock High School in 1956. He worked as a carpenter most of his life. He was a true Master Craftsman. For several years he worked for 3M Pavecoat Division before returning to carpentry to avoid traveling and to be home with his family. Hunting and fishing with his family and friends was his favorite pastime. He loved his place at White River Lake and was always the ultimate optimist that one day it will fill up. Darvin was a loving Christian man that lived his faith throughout his daily life. He instilled his faith through selfless acts and showing all of us how to live life as a Christian-- not just talk about it. He was a dear Husband, Father, and Friend who will be greatly missed. Darvin was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy and Meta Lee Huddleston. He is survived by his wife Ava Huddleston; two daughters and their husbands, Lynne and Mike Levassar and Karen and Scott Gibson; one son and his fiancé, Charles Huddleston and LeeAnn Dumbauld; grandchildren Rachelle, Blaine and his wife Ashley, James, Chad and his wife Angela, Brittany, Courtney, and Mindy; two great grandchildren Kyra and Emily; dear family friend Conny Huddleston; one sister and her husband Darene and Don Brannon; and many cousins throughout the U.S. He is also survived by numerous “adopted” kids and many dear friends. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Resthaven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway in Lubbock. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brian Brand, John Lee, David Conklin, Howard Spence, Chad Stallings, and Michael Brady. Honorary Pallbearers are Lloyd Daniel and John Edmond.
