Daryl Day

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Oakwood Methodist Church with Rev. Wendell Horn officiating and Bruce Cotton assisting. Private family burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm. Daryl was born on November 13, 1922, in Algona, Iowa, to the late Marion and Nannie Dee (Grimm) Day. He moved to Corpus Christi in 1927 and then moved to Lubbock in 1942 when he was transferred to Texas Tech with the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. In 1944, Daryl married Carolyn Mills. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1946. Daryl also graduated from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Accounting in 1949. Following the military, he worked for West Texas Industries with Arch Underwood as an accountant from 1949 until his retirement.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 66 years, Carolyn; two sons: Donald and Dwayne; a daughter, Diane Soucy; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.
