Dennis Chance

He was born August 2, 1956 in Pampa, TX the son of Billy Chance (deceased) and LaVonda Chance, Webster, TX He was the oldest of 3 siblings, Bobby Chance and Sandy, Cypress, TX; Rhonda Chance, Webster, TX; and Tim Chance and Jane, Decatur, TX. On April 27, 1990 he married the love of his life, Debbie Chance.

He graduated from West Texas State University, Canyon, Texas attending from 1974 to 1983 receiving 2 Bachelor of Science Degrees and a Masters of Science Degree.

After 45 years in public and private education serving children in Lubbock Texas, Dennis Chance, retired on May 23, 2025. Mr. Chance loved conversations with his students, whether it be about Science, Goals, Family, Character, Volleyball, Ballet, Football, or Golf. When he wasn't teaching he loved putting a pole in the lake hoping to catch "The Big One".

He is survived by his son, David Chance of Lubbock,TX; his son, Christopher (JT) Thompson and wife, Carolyn of McKinney, TX; his daughter, Heather Moyer and son-in-law Charley of Redmond, OR. He is also survived by two beautiful granddaughters, River Moyer and Emilee Thompson along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at All Saints Episcopal School, 3222 103rd Street, Lubbock, Texas on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2pm.
