Following his year at South Plains College he farmed from 1959 to 1965 when he was drafted into the United States Army and served in intelligence. While in the Army, he was stationed in Germany until his return home in 1967. He married Margaret Crossland in 1967 and was blessed with 5 wonderful children.
Lavoid was known for his sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and feel at ease by “cutting up” with them. His smile and laugh could warm any room and bring a smile to many faces. He loved to play games with anyone who was willing, especially dominoes. He spent many hours at the domino hall in Ropesville, TX with his lifelong friends. He will also be remembered by his faith in God. He knew that the Lord promised that all things would work for the good of those who loved Him and lived his life knowing God was in control. He now has joined his mother, father, brothers, son, and Heavenly Father in Heaven. He will forever leave a legacy for his family and friends.
