

Prayer services for Donny Carrasco, 76, of Lubbock will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, November 11, 2011 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. Robert Cuellar and Pastor Ruben Carrasco officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Donny went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, November 7, 2011.
Donny was born May 17, 1935 in Lockhart, Texas to the late Antonio and Francisca (Castro) Carrasco. He became Pastor of Primera Mission in O’Donnell at the age of 19. Donny received a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University and his Masters from West Texas State University. He served as the Associate Dean and was also a professor at the Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. He moved to Lubbock in 1985 where he served as the Associate Director for Head Start of Levelland until his retirement.
On January 1, 1986 he married Guadalupe Tejeda, in Lubbock.
Donny served as the vice president of the Mexican Baptist Convention and the Texas Head Start Association. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church, NAEYC, Red Cross and NHSA. He volunteered as a chaplain for 15 years at UMC and also was an Adjunct Professor at Wayland Baptist University. He was actively involved with and enjoyed participating in Republican Party committees and events.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, John Carrasco, Francis Luera and Tony Carrasco.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Lupe, children; Leticia Ann Tyson of San Antonio, Ruben Carrasco of Amarillo, Donny Jay Carrasco, of San Antonio, Audrey Jean Saldivar, of Lubbock, and Marco Zane Castro of Austin, grandchildren; Kristi Ann Smith of South Carolina, Rudy Donny Trevino, of San Antonio, great grandsons; Kelsey and Kameron Smith of South Carolina and great granddaughter; Leah Marie Trevino of San Antonio, sisters; Chela Luera, Amy Mojica and Janie Ham brother; Joe Carrasco all of Lubbock and several nieces and nephews.
