

Services for Dossie Whittle Perrin, 101, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb 21, 2011, in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Mausoleum. She was a Christian, and passed away on Friday, Feb 18th.
Dossie was born on Oct 29, 1909 to John and Dovie Whittle in Durant, Oklahoma. Her family moved from Oklahoma to Arizona, prior to coming to Texas in the 1920’s. They purchased a farm north-west of New Deal, where Dossie lived until moving to Lubbock in 1957.
Dossie enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining family and friends. She won many prizes for her cakes and dinner rolls. She worked at the New Deal Cafeteria and after moving to Lubbock, at Gordon Moore Drug Store. After retiring, she volunteered at the Lubbock Senior Center and received many awards for her volunteer work.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Perrin; four brothers, Clyde, J.B. Jack, and John Junior Whittle; two sisters, Lorene Hogan and Dorothy Mann; a daughter, JoAnn Berry.
Survivors include a daughter, Jerry S. Brown and husband, Clarence of Lubbock; three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 6-7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Sunset International Bible Institute or VistaCare Hospice.
